Adam's Update 10.12.12

Update 10.10.12
Jazz Mafia Events Newsletter
October 2012

A Note From Adam:

We’ve announced our 12 Year anniversary show which takes place Saturday, November 17th at the Fillmore Auditorium in SF! WE’RE PLAYING THE FILLMORE!! WE’RE FREAKING OUT!!!!!!!!

We have a limited number of presale tickets available for purchase directly through our site HEREuntil Sat 10/13. By pre purchasing, you get a $5 discount on ticketmaster fees as well as a free download of the new Jazz Mafia 12 Year Anniversary compilation. We’re beyond excited about playing this legendary venue, it’s one of the biggest events we’ve ever produced and it’s our first performance in SF with our Symphony in a year. We’ll be announcing many more special guests over the next few weeks as well as having a few secret surprise guests. As of today, the lineup includes The Jazz Mafia Symphony performing music from Brass Bows & Beats, The Emperor Norton Suite, The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, Realistic Orchestra, Subharmonic, Dublin, Joe Bagale, Aima The Dreamer, Soulati, myself as musical director and 40 of SF’s finest music makers. We’ll be joined by the undisputed king of the turntables, DJ Qbert. We’ll also be featuring many visual/dance artists whom I’ve been connecting and collaborating with through my Treat Social Club Series that was started this year. If there’s any way you’d like to help support this event please feel free to get in touch with me. We’re trying to bring ART to a major SF venue, which isn’t easy and we can really use the help. Feel free to contact me at adam@jazzmafia.com if you’d like to get involved.

I’ve been spending even more time producing, writing, recording and orchestrating in the studio and am LOVIN’ it. I’m especially excited about the track I produced and recorded for theUnderCover Joni Mitchell BLUE tribute “This Flight Tonight” featuring Erica Dee and Aima The Dreamer. You can check it out HERE. I’m working on projects for LATYRX (Lyrics Born & Lateef), Chief Xcel (Blackalicious), Lifesavas, Eligh & The Grouch, Amplive, Jamie Way, Tea Leaf Green, Pigeon John, Headnodic, Peter Joseph Burtt…I’ll keep ya posted on the release dates etc…

I’ve started a new interview series at www.jazzmafia.com which features short 5 Question interviews with talented musicians that I really respect. Look for the first one “5 Questions withHeadnodic” this week.

We’re putting together our next installment of Treat Social Club for Tuesday, October 30th. It will of course, be a Halloween themed event, so expect a lot of music, live visuals and dance collaborations in some sort of scary theme. I can tell you that it’s going to be a night filled with a TON of new music, since we took last month off, we have lots of new things ready to go. Sing up attreatsocialclub.com to get on the list and find out more about how you can get a ticket to this underground event.

Congrats to Jazz Mafia co-founder Joe Cohen who is engaged to marry his longtime girlfriend Theresa on Saturday, October 27th! High Five!

Thanks for your continued support and for staying in touch with us. It means a lot to us to get your feedback, input, ideas etc.. so plese feel free to respond to this email and let us know what’s on your mind!

Dead Winter Carpenters “Ain’t it Strange”: Jazz Mafia Horns are turned loose on the track “Tahoe Gal“. This is a slammin’ band from the Tahoe Area with great songs and musicianship in an eclectic bluegrass/jam setting.

Rupa & The April Fishes “Build”: Released this month, features Adam Theis on many tracks. Rupa and her band are one of the most well-respected groups on an international level to come out of the SF Bay in a while. Please support them!
